Best Gimbals for Olympus OM-D Cameras

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If you’re looking for the best gimbals for Olympus OM-D cameras, then you’ve come to the right place.

From the crowd favorite classic Olympus OMD-D E-M1 to the latest and greatest Olympus OM-D E M5/M1 MARK III, the Olympus OM-D series has created a lot of buzz in the mirrorless camera market over the past few years.

I’ve compiled a list of top gimbals for Olympus OM-D cameras that you may find interesting. Note that the gimbals listed below have been tested and are guaranteed to support your Olympus OM-D series camera.

#1: Feiyu AK2000

I’ve been using this beauty for the past 4 weeks, and I must say, it’s one of the best gimbals for Olympus OM-D cameras. It is hands down my best pick from this list.

The gimbal provided smooth footage and handled my Olympus OMD-D E M10 MARK III without a problem. And I absolutely adored the super-responsive design and touchscreen.

Not to mention the high-precision software algorithms, enhanced gimbal plate design, and powerful motors. Turns out, the (Amazon) Feiyu Ak2000 3-Axis Stabilizer can be paired with Olympus OM-D cameras easily.

Also, it has Click options to select/ switch between function mode, slide screen on the left and right, flexible touch, easily adjustable ISO, white balance, etc.

Don’t let the minimalist design fool you. It doesn’t interfere with your screen while capturing some of the best shots ever (this is also very convenient for framing).

Furthermore, with WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, your stabilizer no longer requires a control cable. Rather, you’re able to control your Olympus camera parameter via the gimbal directly. (Update: 2021: this feature may no longer be working, please disregard this gimbal if this is a needed element of your experience 🙂 )

Lastly, I cannot help but mention the bundled 4 high-energy polymer lithium batteries offering a 12-hour+ battery life on average usage. That’s impressive!

In short, I’d highly recommended this gimbal.

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 18.4 x 13.3 x 4.6 inches
  • Weight: 6.4 pounds
  • Display Screen: Touch Screen
  • Max Payload: 6.2 lbs / 2800g

#2. DJI Ronin-SC

Probably one of the best price-to-performance ratios provided by any gimbal I’ve ever tested, the successor of the crowd-pleasing Ronin-S, the new (Amazon) DJI Ronin-SC brings more features and improvements on the table. It’s hands down one of the most cost-effective gimbals for Olympus OM-D cameras.

Weighing around 2.4 lbs, the DJI Ronin-SC gimbal packs a ton of cool features, technology, and advancements inside its miniature form.

The gimbal is ultra-portable and easy to hold for longer photo/videography sessions. On top of that, you have 2 locking modes for storage and camera balancing.

The quick-release plate lets you easily rebalance your Olympus OM-D series camera when moved to a different area.

DJI Ronin-SC also comes with a record button and a nifty joystick for better gimbal control. You will find a re-center front trigger that comes in handy. This helps bring your gimbal back to its previous/default position. Moreover, the M button lets you enable Sport Mode for fast-tracking responses while capturing action.

Ronin-SC is rocking a powerful 2450 mAh battery.

In my testing, over the course of 12-14 days, the battery provided around 11-hour of backup time on a single charge, on average. You can charge the battery via a fast Type-C port charge. That spells convenience.

I must also mention that using the responsive Ronin App on your Android or iOS device, you can now control your Olympus OM-D camera to take incredible shots at specific intervals. This, combined and sequenced in post, will yield breathtaking timelapses.

For those looking for top-notch gimbals for Olympus OM-D cameras, look no further. DJI Ronin-SC has everything you’ll ever need to capture amazing shots. It offers premium features and modern functionality at a very reasonable price.

The gimbal stabilizer is equipped with 3-Axis precision technology that helps reduce shaky, bumpy movements when shooting, ensuring top-quality videos.

What I liked most about the gimbal is its 32-bit Microcontroller Unit that is so smart in terms of pairing with your mirrorless camera that you will be surprised by the results.

Also, the built-in app is incredible. It allows you to control the functions from your smartphone wirelessly. To offer longer photography sessions, Zhiyun implemented 2 additional batteries to ensure better overall performance and convenience.
