Why should you get a gimbal for iPhone?

iPhone cameras transformed drastically in the past few years. Today, iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone 11 are considered to be the best mobile devices for users who wanted to shoot amazing videos. These iPhones are capable of producing a smooth 60 frames per second video that has a maximum resolution of 4K. Experts believe that in the future, more people will rely on their mobile devices to produce a video.

Unless I am mistaken, it appears the photo you are showing for the Zihyun Smooth Q is actually the Smooth 4.

So, which gimbals can handle the iPhone 11 Pro Max in Ultra Wide mode without showing the gimbal?

    1. Josh Kruger says

Thats a great question, I am not totally positive. I would like the community to chime in here as its been months since I visited this topic.

I have the Smooth 4 and in ultra wide the gimbal appears in the video when holding it upright. When holding it horizontally it’s not a problem. It’s my favorite gimbal though since it’s longer and personally I find it extremely comfortable to hold. The advantage is that you can reach higher and further and lower than with other gimbals. I use this all of the time to film my kids when they come out of hole in bouncing castles, when they are climbing through branches high up, and when running after then and starting by filming their feet while they run. I need to switch since the wide angle problem is annoying but I know the extra reach is really something I’ll miss. The length is no issue to transport is you have backpacks with bottle or tripod holders.

    Hello,

I have been using the OSMO 2 for iphone pro max and it doesnt seem to take the weight. When I googled if the Osmo 3 does, most sites state that the weight is up to 200g, but that it bounces when walking and will eventually fail. The Osmo 2 does this as well. The size of the phone is also an issue in that I sometimes, depending on how “tired” the Osmo is, have to use a counterweight or it is lopsided.

Are there really truly any handheld gimbals that work for the size and weight of these phones?

    1. Josh Kruger says

What seems to be your issue?
